The Atomic Bent Chetler has been updated this season to provide even greater freeride potential in deep snow.
The conditions I tested the Bent Chetler in were perfect for the ski ; deep blower pow on the first day with some heavier set-up pow on the second. Before riding the ski I felt like the flex was going to be a bit soft for my preference. But after a few runs, the flex ended up being perfect, and the mount made for easy landings off of cliffs. It’s soft enough to be playful and surfy in the pow, but still has enough stability for speed, although I did notice a little bit of chatter on the groomers.
As expected, the Powder Rocker profile was great in soft snow. The HRZN (horizon) tech adds a slight horizontal rocker to the ski for a spoon-like shape and feel, which really improves float and enhances the fun surfy feel you look for in a powder ski.
The 2015 Bent Chetler is 142mm in the tip, 120mm underfoot, and 134mm in the tail. The Powder Rocker profile combines underfoot camber with a rockered tip and tail, and it features the new ‘horizon’ tech that gives the ski a subtle spoon shape and an extra 10% of surface area in the tip and tail. The ski also has a Lite Woodcore, step down sidewall construction, and carbon inserts through the midsection for more stability.
If you’re in the market for a purpose driven pow ski that you’ll want to reach for on the deepest days, I’d wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the Atomic Bent Chetler.
