Renowned ice mountaineer Conrad Anker helped The North Face design the Ice Project Backpack to organize all your gear for a day of ice climbing. The Ice Project’s immaculate design places each pocket where you want it most for quick packing and accessibility, and it even made one, the ice-screw organizer, removable. Made with PU-coated nylon, this pack stands up to abuse on the trail as well as the snowy ground. Its front panel opens wide so you can reach all of your gear without having to rummage, and the panel doubles as a padded seat when you’re donning crampons.

The North Face designed the Ice Project’s top pocket with puncture-resistant protection for your crampons, and there are four clips for your four ice axes. Clip your axe in, and the tip slides safely into a tip cover so it stays sharp and won’t stab your other gear. The external stash pocket is perfect for ditching or getting extra layers when you’re on the trail, and the internal storage pocket is large enough for a jacket, gloves, and harness. There are also pockets for your guide book, water bottle, and a removable ten-slot ice-screw organizer for convenience. The Ice Project features a ski-style helmet carry, too.
