The North Face: Behind the Seams – Denali Jacket

0

Go behind the seams of The North Face Denali Jacket. Learn how we’ve generated the largest environmental savings by focusing our sustainable efforts on one of our most popular products. Learn more @ http://bit.ly/FleeceInnovations.

We teamed up with Free Range Studios to make this first animated video about the innovations in materials development and manufacturing for our fleece. While we continually explore alternatives for all our products, we focus our efforts on our most popular products, such as the iconic Denali jacket, which generates the largest environmental savings. The fleece in the Denali Jacket is made from 100 percent post-consumer recycled content: plastic bottles. This will keep 30 million of them out of the landfill in 2014. We are also recycling scrap material back into the creation of black and heather grey Denali Jackets. The scrap recycled in 2014 will be enough to make 12,000 Denali Jackets. Last but not least, we implemented an eco-preferred dyeing process that dyes yarn instead of the fabric for black and heather grey Denali Jackets. Compared to the traditional dying process, it uses up to 50 percent less water and chemicals and an average of 25 percent less energy.
