[The Stepchild Kam Knife has been sharpened up for the 2014/15 season to deliver pure park riding perfection.] It has a true twin shape, medium flex, and slightly more camber than last year’s model to add a bit of snap to your ollies.
Stepchild’s new Park Killer core is made from a combination of poplar and beech wood to make this year’s Kam Knife a little lighter than the previous model, and to reduce chatter while still being able to handle monster landings.
[The day I took the Kam Knife to the park we had sunny skies with hardpack in the morning and slushy spring conditions in the afternoon.] I really liked the Snapback camber because it gave the board good edge hold when I was making some turns. And the camber goes flat when loaded, which kept the board fun and playful while providing lots of surface area for stable presses and landings.
The Flex was perfect for my riding style, soft enough to be creative on park features but stiff enough for smooth take offs. As the snow got softer in the afternoon, I was very impressed with the Stepchild’s patented Structurn base tech. Tiny elongated dimples on the board’s base kept this thing nice and fast in the spring slush.
If your looking to cut up the park and do it with some style, check out the Stepchild Kam Knife. In my opinion, an all around excellent snowboard.
