For most of K2’s pro riders, the Hit Machine is their go-to freestyle board. And after lapping the park for a day, it was easy for me to understand why. The Hit Machine has a flat profile underfoot with a touch of Tweekend rocker in the nose and tail. The flat base gives the board a loose and buttery feel, which is just what you want for fun jib sessions.
I was also impressed with how much the Tweekend rocker increased the size of the press zone on the nose and tail. It made it really easy to hold presses and slides on the rails, and it helped pillow landings off the jumps.
The day I took the Hit Machine to the park we had spring slush and sunny skies. The sintered base stayed nice and fast through the afternoon, giving me plenty of speed for all the jumps.
In my opinion, the medium flex has been tuned-in just right for freestyle riding. Soft enough for a buttery feel and easy slides, but just stiff enough to properly set up and land on the jumps.
The Hybritech construction cuts down on swing weight and adds durability by smoothly blending the sidewall into the nose and tail, and the Carbon Web adds some pop and snap for ollies.
If you’re primarily a freestyle rider and spend most of you’re days lapping the park, I would have no problem recommending the K2 Hit Machine.
