For deep powder days, it’s hard to beat the Capita Charlie Slasher. The Charlie has a powder specific profile shape that is rockered in the nose, flat underfoot, and tapered in the tail. The 20mm of taper allows the tail to sink deep in soft snow, giving the nose effortless float. It has two parallel carbon fiber beams in the nose for a boost in response without adding weight, and it comes in at medium-stiff 6 on Capita’s flex scale.
To make the Charlie Slasher a bit more touring friendly, Capita laid it up with a lightweight touring core that has a band of ABS straight down the centerline. That means if you feel like cutting it in half to make a split, you’ll have ABS sidewalls on the newly exposed edges- helping to maintain the boards structural integrity and avoid water damage.
The day I rode the Charlie Slasher it was stormy with lots of deep, cold powder. I really liked how this board floated through powder effortlessly, it seemed impossible to catch the nose. I also really enjoyed how sturdy it felt compared to other reverse camber powder boards I have ridden. Instead of being soggy, loose and floppy when riding anything other than deep untouched powder, the board rode extremely well on the groomers. I was also impressed with the pop and turning capabilities.
If you’re looking to add a powder specific board to your quiver, the Capita Charlie Slasher is your ticket to tons of fun and float on the deepest days.
