The Arbor A-frame is one of our top picks for big mountain boards this season. Designed specifically for steep terrain and high speed, the A-Frame has a traditional camber profile that really allows you to lock onto an edge and hold a big line. It also has a nice directional shape that keeps the nose floaty in the powder and a mid-stiff flex to keep things stable at speed.
On the top sheet you’ll notice the Power Ply that’s made from Palisander, Walnut, and El Dorado wood. Not only does it give you that classy Arbor look but it helps add some structure and stiffness to the board.
We had pretty standard spring conditions both days I rode the A-Frame. Some crusty powder in the mornings, slushy in the afternoon, and lots of fast groomer laps.
The camber and shape were great for carving; I noticed the sharp edge hold right from the start. I always felt like I was in control on this board, and the sintered base kept the ride nice and fast in the afternoon slush.
I really liked the directional shape and floaty nose. It made it easy to stay on top even in the crusty, heavy snow. Another nice thing on the A-frame is Arbor’s fully wrapped sidewalls that boost durability and impact resistance, perfect for bony terrain where you’re guaranteed to peg a rock or a root at some point.
If you’re the type of rider who prefers the steepest terrain and the deepest snow, the Arbor A-Frame is a great way to go.
