At 115km long, Stage 5 presents one of the most difficult tests in already grueling week. While a focus has been on Specialized Racing’s Christoph Sauser and Frantisek Rabon chipping away at the leaders time advantage, the Specialized Racing women’s team of Annika Langvad and Arianne Kleinhans sit atop the their division in first place. The routine of waking before dawn and going flat-out day after day is taking a toll on competitors; however, for having 9-5 “desk jobs” Sam and Eric continue to fight, and have broken into the top 70 in a field of over 530 teams.
