Why we chose Cheryl: We were fortunate enough to meet Cheryl last year in the mountains of North Carolina when she brought her infectious positive attitude to our women’s mountain photo shoot. She was delightful on the shoot but more so than that she is a force within her community. She has a strong connection with her local bike shop, is already working to get more women on bikes and is an active member of her local women’s mountain bike club. In addition to having an active role in her community her personal life is as busy as ever. A mom of three that homeschools her children by day and works weekend nights as a nurse and she has lost over 100 pounds mountain biking with her husband. Cheryl can move mountains when she sets her mind to it.
We know that women are most influenced by their peers — women in their community that they admire. In 2013 we have launched our own Specialized Women Ambassador Program after seeing the success of programs like Burton Girls and the Lululemon Ambassadors. We have selected five women that are leaders within their community that will help to break down the barriers that prevent women from getting on bikes.
