Why we chose Mandy: Mandy started with an interest in mountain bikes which evolved into a passion for road riding. She is the co-manager of the SpokesWomen Syndicate women’s cycling team that has a focus of developing younger female riders and is always actively recruiting new riders and encouraging women to ride with a weekly women’s ride for beginner cyclist and hosting cycling skills clinics. While she is very involved with the race team she also sees the benefit that any level of cycling will create in a women’s life and will continue to share the sport with everyone that she meets.
We know that women are most influenced by their peers — women in their community that they admire. In 2013 we have launched our own Specialized Women Ambassador Program after seeing the success of programs like Burton Girls and the Lululemon Ambassadors. We have selected five women that are leaders within their community that will help to break down the barriers that prevent women from getting on bikes.
