2013 Women’s Ambassador – Stephanie Kaplan

Hometown: New York City, NY

What she is riding: Amira Expert

Why we chose Stephanie: Stephanie really discovered the value of riding a bike during her service in the Peace Corp in Burkina Faso. She utilized a bike to get her to the nearest town or to teach literacy. Once she was state side she joined a cycling club and never looked back. After being inspired by the Specialized Lululemon pro team Stephanie decided to try her hand at racing through the support of her cycling community. It was only through that support that she would have given it a try and she wants to provide that same opportunity to any women that want to get into riding.

We know that women are most influenced by their peers — women in their community that they admire. In 2013 we have launched our own Specialized Women Ambassador Program after seeing the success of programs like Burton Girls and the Lululemon Ambassadors. We have selected five women that are leaders within their community that will help to break down the barriers that prevent women from getting on bikes.
