The new Voile Revelator is a pure backcountry machine- designed to perform on the way up and on the way back down.
The day I rode the revelator we had nice settled pow about 3 days after the last storm. The spring time temps kept us on north facing slopes to find the good pow!
I really like the boards ability to plow through variable snow. The long camber with a big lifted nose and tail makes for a really stable ride when it counts at speed. The big nose keeps you floating effortlessly when the snow is super deep too. This board has canted pucks with 2.5º of tilt which is really nice on the knees when your riding day in and day out.
The canted pucks set your knees up in a much more natural position and give added pressure and input into the nose and tail of the board. The board uses a new slider track instead of inserts to attach the pucks, giving you 10 times more stance options then the traditional splitboard insert pattern. It’s much easier to set up and you can finally get your bindings exactly where you want them on the board. Walking up it is noticeably lighter than most of the splitboards that I have ridden. The paulownia wood core keeps it super light and nimble, great for long days with many miles!
I loved the way this board turns and pivots in tight steep terrain, yet when you point it down hill, it holds strong and doesn’t wheelie out. That is key for me in a splitboard. Versatile, stiff, and stable!
If you’re in the market for a new splitboard, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the Voile Revelator.
