The K2 Ultra Dream is back again as one of our top all mountain boards for the 2014/15 season. The Ultra Dream features K2’s all terrain baseline and the BC shape that was specifically designed for performance in soft snow.
The all terrain baseline is flat underfoot with a medium tweekend rocker in the tip and lower rise tweekend rocker in the tail. The result is a directional board that tracks straight and holds an edge, but it doesn’t eliminate the potential to ride switch and butter around in the powder.
The day I rode the Ultra Dream I had the pleasure of floating some fresh Utah powder. The BC shaping kept the nose out of the snow- which was great for sending cliffs without tomahawking, and the low rise tail sat deep in the snow, making it easy to throw some tight turns in the trees.
The Ultra Dream also has the Bambooyah blend core that uses a super strong skate- inspired bamboo laminate. The aim being to create a flat profile board that has the pop of cambered boards without sacrificing the straight tracking and easy riding you get with a flat board. Judging by the experience I had on the board, they succeeded. This thing had great flex and pop and the tail had enough support to nicely absorb landings.
Whether it’s surfing pow, ripping groomers, or hammering through week old crud, the K2 Ultra Dream is an all mountain board that will do it all and do it all well.
